Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones live images leaked: 30 hours of battery life, support for spatial audio

Today, a Reddit user named Chez5160 exposed the packaging photos of Sony’s upcoming WH-1000XM5 headphones. In appearance, the earmuffs of the Sony WH-1000XM5 are not as angular as the previous generation, but the thicker earpads will make it more comfortable to wear and achieve better sealing and sound insulation.

There is also a big change in appearance. The WH-1000XM5 cancels the telescopic and foldable headband design, but the earmuffs can be turned to be flatly stuffed into the storage box.

From the packaging information, the WH-1000XM5 is expected to achieve 30 hours of battery life, but it should be achieved by turning on ANC/active noise reduction. In addition, the headset will also support Sony’s own spatial audio (360 Reality Audio) technology. And supports Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa smart voice assistants.

According to previous TechnikNews revelations, the WH-1000XM5 will have a significant improvement in noise reduction compared to the previous generation WH-1000XM4. There will be two dedicated chips and three microphones inside the headset to achieve the ideal noise reduction effect. And the headset will also support Bluetooth 5.2, retain a 3.5mm audio interface, and a USB-C interface.

Finally, according to the Walkman blog, the Sony WH-1000XM5 will be officially released in August 2022, but the suspected packaging has been leaked, and the headset may also be available in advance.
