Tesla Berlin factory paint leaks, environmental groups ask to revoke its business license

After learning of a major paint leak at Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory, the environmental group Green Alliance launched an action aimed at revoking the factory’s business license.

Part of the reason why Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory has been slow to obtain a business license is due to environmental groups including the Green Alliance.

On April 11, the Tesla Gigafactory leaked 15,000 liters of the paint mixture, according to environmental agencies and water management agencies. On delivery, 2-3 liters of paint spilled onto the road and clumped together.

The environmental agency said the paint mixture did not enter the sewage system or the groundwater system. The Green Alliance demands that the business license of Tesla’s Berlin Gigafactory be revoked until Tesla hardens the ground around the paint shop to prevent harmful substances from entering the groundwater system.

The Green Alliance also said it would ask Germany’s Federal Ministry of Environmental Protection to intervene in the event of local inaction.
