WhatsApp update supports emoji response, supports 2GB large file sharing and expands the group limit

After announcing “coming soon” last month, WhatsApp has now officially ushered in improvements such as emoji responses and the ability to share large 2GB files (previously limited to 100MB). Although the initially supported emoji responses are relatively limited, more reactions will be added to WhatsApp in the future. In addition, Meta, one of the instant messaging platforms owned by Meta, announced Thursday that it has doubled the size of group chats.

As a fun and useful feature, WhatsApp introduced Emoji Reactions a lot slower than competitors such as Slack and Telegram. But now, users can finally respond by attaching an emoji instead of text after seeing a message from the other party.

Meta spokesman Vispo Bhopti told The Verge that the feature is expected to roll out to all WhatsApp users in “about a week.”

At the same time, WhatsApp is expanding the number of people in Phison (from 256 to 512), although there have been some hacking methods to break through the existing limit. In addition, the official blog post pointed out that the company is also working on launching larger groups, but it will not come soon.
