YouTube channel ElAnalistaDeBits shared a comparison of Forza Horizon 5 running on Valve’s handheld Steam Deck and the Xbox console. This test focuses on comparing the performance of Steam Deck with other systems.
First of all, Forza Motorsport: Horizon 5 has not passed the game verification of Steam Deck, so its performance will be improved through optimization in the future. The game doesn’t support the handheld’s 16:10 aspect ratio, so it runs at 720p in FSR.
Steam Deck was able to run at 35 fps on high settings (textures and environment geometry set extremely high). However, in some cases, its frame rate dropped below 30 fps.
When all settings on the console are set to low (similar to the Xbox One) the Steam Deck is able to maintain 60fps with some stuttering issues. The Steam Deck has faster load times than the Xbox One, but slower than the Xbox Series, despite the use of an SSD.
Imagine playing Forza Horizon 5 hand-held while lying on the couch. After all, this game is one of the most impressive games available today. We very much hope to play this game on Steam Deck through optimization in the future.
