Microsoft confirms that the sneak version of Outlook is legal but not recommended for users

For the new version of Outlook that has been sneaked away recently, Microsoft admits that it is legal, but it is not recommended. Earlier this week, Microsoft quietly released an update to its Office 365 dashboard confirming that One Outlook is real, but IT pros should block users from accessing the new email app.

Microsoft says it is aware of the leaked app that some users (work or school account users) have access to earlier versions of the new Outlook for Windows. Microsoft hasn’t explained anything about One Outlook, and it says it will share news about the next-gen Outlook experience in the coming weeks.

However, Microsoft says users should avoid using the earlier text version as it currently lacks some features and enhancements. “These enhancements will be available to our customers at a later date through the Beta Channel, and we encourage our customers to wait for the beta release,” Microsoft said.

Microsoft also confirmed that the beta version will soon be released to those enrolled in the Office Insider program. Since the app isn’t currently aimed at business users, Microsoft wants IT administrators to temporarily block access and only allow access when the app is officially released in the beta channel.
