Despite the Battlefield 2042 thunder, EA claims it will not give up it. Recently, EA released a questionnaire about Battlefield 2042, which asked players if they would like to edit the map of the private server and portal mode. This seems to hint at some features that may be introduced in the future.
It is reported that this “private server” can be purchased through the official rental channel, and the map editor of “Portal Mode” allows players to adjust map elements, including items on the map and even certain terrains. The question asks players which features they like best. It may indicate that DICE will only add some editable content first, and then add it later.
The launch of the rental server and map editor does not seem like a decision to restore lost players. Considering that most of the DICE people have entered the next “Battlefield” project, the update speed of the remaining personnel must not be so fast. It remains to be seen whether the feature will go live.
