Here’s how MIUI will change, between folding and tablets of the future

With the presentation of MIUI 13, Xiaomi has renewed its interface to welcome the advent of the Xiaomi Pad 5 family, creating a special MIUI for Pad for tablets. But not only that: given the existence of Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold, a PC mode has been created within MIUI to take advantage of its being a folding smartphone.

All features allow MIUI to be more versatile and be able to be exploited to the fullest even on devices other than smartphones. But you can always improve: this is demonstrated by the innovations found in the latest versions of the Xiaomi home UI.

MIUI 13 anticipates the software news that we will see on folding tablets and smartphones

As often happens, the MIUI 13 Beta that is tested in China is a great way to find out what’s new from Xiaomi in advance. For example, it is from these ROMs that the first images of Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 were taken , to stay on the subject in question. In fact, in one of the latest versions of the MIUI Beta, two menus that have never been seen before appear in the Settings: “Features for the big screen” and “Features for tablets”.

The first menu concerns folding smartphones and contain specific configurations for wallpapers, display modes, gaming, keyboard, floating windows and keeping the screen on when open or closed. The second concerns tablets and includes almost the same configurations, in addition to the addition of MIUI+.

It is interesting to note that these menus appear only by tricking the software and making it believe that the device on which MIUI is running is the “ zizhan ” model (Xiaomi MIX Fold 2) or “ dagu ” (the next tablet). In any case, the menus are not yet usable or visible, except for the new keyboard which is visible in the screenshots above.

A keyboard that can be used in multiple layouts to make the most of larger screens than that of the smartphone, mainly in split-screen. All that remains is to wait for the launch of these new products and witness the related changes in MIUI 13.
