Wear OS: The Google Pixel Watch is not alone this year

Wear OS has grown significantly over the past year with fewer new models. Google and Co. want to repeat that – but in a slightly different way. At its own “fair” for developers, Google also mentioned a few numbers and made various announcements. So this year there will not only be the own Google Pixel Watch (in autumn) but of course other devices from other well-known brands.

Fossil and other partners announce themselves

Google continues to work with Samsung on this, which shouldn’t surprise us. There have already been some leaks for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 . Montblanc, Mobvoi (TicWatch) and Fossil are also back. What was not possible last year will hopefully be different this time.

Because the new devices from the manufacturers in addition to Samsung must necessarily be equipped with Wear OS 3. Using older software again would almost be cheating the customer.

Samsung has been the exclusive partner for Wear OS 3 so far

A bit of background: Google launched a much better Wear OS 3 in spring 2021. To date, however, the new version is only available to Samsung. For other devices, this step is only planned for this summer. Only then can Fossil and Co. update a few older devices and release new devices with Wear OS 3.
