Valve confirms that Final Fantasy 14 will be re-adapted to Steam Deck

The popular MMO game Final Fantasy 14 pushed an update in March that caused it to not work on Steam Deck, and now, it’s finally about to be fixed.

According to the latest patch notes from the experimental branch of Proton (the operating system used by Steam Deck), Valve has confirmed that the new Final Fantasy XIV launcher should once again work properly on Proton and Steam Deck. While this is just a beta update right now, Proton 7.0.2 should go live in due course.

Before this, if you tried to run Final Fantasy XIV on the Steam Deck, it would hang and couldn’t continue. This update also fixes performance issues with other games on the Steam Deck, such as Age of Knights, Chrono Trigger 2, Warhammer: Vermintide, and Resident Evil: Revelations 2, to name a few.
