Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition new DLC Mediterranean Knights was officially released today (May 27). The new DLC brings two new civilizations to the game: Malta and Italy; and a new Tycoon game mode more focused on economic advantages; and eight historical maps make their debut.
DLC introduction:
2 new civilizations
Malta:
Defend the Mediterranean, fend off invasions with unique fortifications, repel onslaughts with gleaming armor, and blast enemies from thousands of miles away with stationary cannons. While Pyros and Greatswords can win battles, only command posts with advanced logistical capabilities can win wars.
Fortunately, you can have both! Fighting with Legion Arrows at sea can get your gunpowder wet, but your crossbowmen won’t care. You can go to the Gun Warehouse to reload at any time, or detonate the Gun Warehouse as enemy troops pass by, blasting them into the sky!
Italy:
Unite wealthy merchant republics, duchies, and papal kingdoms, and use architects to build for free as new colonies of settlers bring technological breakthroughs to your thriving empire! Invest in Lombardy to optimize your economy and make quick profits, or build the towering Basilica-Cathedral and send Papal Troops to strengthen and replenish your army. Use the shielded Wall Shields to lure opponents into the sharpshooter’s ambush, or let the Ermedi cavalry hold down their spears for a thunderous dash to win!
New Tycoon Game Mode
Tycoon:
Tycoon is a new, light-hearted game mode that focuses more on economic advantage than military domination. Instead of fighting each other in this new mode, players will be able to explore and enhance economic strategies that they can use in other modes in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition.
Debut historical map
Historical map:
The historical map is a new random map. It spawns randomly and will keep you entertained when you replay it, delve deeper into history with these 8 new maps in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, each with unique objectives and based on European Adapted from the continent’s most impressive campaign.
