Chrome extension is designed to help you read better online

Ever heard of bionic reading? This bolds the first letters of written words so that your brain focuses on them when you read them and automatically fills in the rest of the word without you having to consciously read that part. This should help with faster reading, but also ensure that the texts read are better understood.

Basically, each of you can try it out for yourself, for example, this form of text display is (currently) nothing for me. I really would have to get used to it first. How do you change the text accordingly?

Either you use the ready-made converter by the Swiss Renato Casutt, or you use a simple Chrome extension. You can get that on GitHub, where there is also a very well-illustrated guide on how to set up the extension. Here it is in text form:

  • Click the Code > Download ZIP button.
  • Open the file location (e.g. Download).
  • Right click on the ZIP file > Extract all > OK
  • Open Chrome > go to this link chrome://extensions/
  • Activate “Developer mode”.
  • Click on “Load unzipped” and then select the unzipped folder.
  • To pin the extension, click the puzzle icon at the top right of Chrome and pin the extension.
