Battlefield 2042 economic system

This is the philosophy of our Battlefield 2042 economy, and it’s very important to us to provide a fair fight for everyone. With each new season of Battlefield 2042, new content and experiences are on the way – the journey across the season will expand with new maps, new experts, new weapons, vehicles, gear, and more Battlefields. Players will be able to understand how the Battle Pass, Battlefield currency and player progression are tied to the journey.

Before we start, we want to share with you the idea of the Battlefield 2042 economy. It is very important for us to provide a fair fight for everyone. Therefore, players cannot gain an advantage in the game even if they spend real money. In Battlefield 2042, money can only buy cosmetic items or other things that don’t provide battlefield advantages.

Player progress

You can progress easily in Battlefield 2042, as easy as by playing the game and earning experience points. Assisting your squad, defeating enemies, winning battles, completing objectives – these actions earn you experience points. Once you’ve accumulated enough experience points, you’ll be able to advance to the next player level, which means you’ll gain access to weapons, gear, cosmetic items, and many more new rewards. Stay tuned to our channel for upcoming events where you’ll be able to earn more XP. But as you get deeper into the battlefield, you’ll be making your way through the current season’s Battle Pass – which brings us to the next segment.

Battle Pass – Free and Premium

There are two progression paths for the Battle Pass: Free* and Premium. The former is free to all game owners, while the latter is available to those who purchase the Premium Battle Pass, or those who own the First Year Pass**. Any new content related to the game, such as experts, weapons, vehicles, etc., is available to all Battlefield 2042 players for free. This content can be unlocked with the Battle Pass. If you miss out on a season’s launch, you can still unlock it at a later stage.

Each season’s Battle Pass contains 100 levels, and the more you play, the more you progress through them. Game-related unlocks such as weapons, experts, and others such as Battlefield currency are included in the free Battle Pass tier and are available to all players. Of the 100 rewards in the free Battle Pass, 30 are available to all players. However, the Premium Battle Pass includes every reward in the 100 tiers. The premium version lets you unlock some pretty special skins, player card backgrounds, weapon charms, knockdowns, extra Battlefield currency, and more.

Use Battle Pass Points to unlock Battle Pass Tiers

To reach new tiers in Battle Pass, you must earn Battle Pass Points. There are two ways to get it: experience points are earned by playing any Battlefield 2042 game mode, or by completing weekly missions. For example, these missions will require the player to rescue 10 teammates or capture 5 banners of conquest before the mission period ends.

If you’re a Premium Battle Pass owner, you can also use 150 Battlefield Currency to skip a level, which instantly jumps to the next level.

Battlefield currency

The Battlefield Currency, or BFC, is the primary medium of exchange in Battlefield 2042. BFC can be purchased with real money, or by progressing through Battle Pass tiers (including some free tiers) to earn bonus Battlefield currency. You can spend Battlefield currency on a variety of things; including cosmetic items, premium battle passes, and item bundles.

As previously stated, players cannot spend real money to gain an in-game advantage – Battlefield currency can only buy cosmetic items and will not give players an unfair advantage on the battlefield.

Shop

In the in-game store, various items can be unlocked by spending Battlefield Currency, or “BFC,” which can be purchased for real money, or unlocked by progressing to free Battle Pass tiers. Find weapons, vehicles, and expert skins in the store that will make you stand out on the battlefield. We regularly update the store with new content and offers, and some bundles are even more affordable. Don’t worry about items disappearing after a while, most of the content will stay in the store.

*Free Battle Pass content requires play to unlock. Requires Battlefield 2042 (sold separately) and all game updates to play.

**Premium Battle Pass content requires the Year 1 Pass (for Gold/Ultimate Edition owners) or the Season 1 Battle Pass (purchased separately) and play to unlock. Requires Battlefield 2042 (sold separately) and all game updates to play.
