Samsung smartphone of the future, has a display that expands in all directions

Samsung continues to work on the future of smartphones (or smartphones of the future), and the further demonstration – as if that were not enough – comes from WIPO, which a few days ago approved a patent entitled ” Electronic device including Expandable display and content provision method”.

The documentation as always does not guarantee the effective transformation of an idea into a concrete product, but it is detailed enough to make us understand that the South Korean company is dedicating time and money to these solutions.

What we are talking about today is a smartphone with an expandable display. No double screen, therefore, like on Galaxy Z Fold 3 (or as on Fold 4 coming this summer), but a single panel that changes size according to need.

It is a similar concept but not the same as what has already been seen in other Samsung patents in the past, and it represents the right opportunity to understand at what point the engineers are in the development not so much of the product itself, but of the idea that underlies it.

The display here expands in all directions: you start from the closed smartphone, which shows a portion of the scene, and the more you enlarge the screen, the more you see the contents that the scene itself includes. Such a solution would leave the user maximum freedom to show what he really interested and to calibrate the size of the device as needed.
