WhatsApp Windows 11 UWP is testing Edit Published Messages

As reported by Windows Latest, have you ever considered editing the messages you sent? Meta believes it’s time to add the ability to edit messages in its current WhatsApp app.

WhatsApp isn’t perfect, especially on Windows. Meta is aware of many shortcomings and limitations, such as its limited ability to edit previously sent messages and express what it is trying to communicate with reactions. While Meta has added React to its WhatsApp mobile app, the feature is still missing a new UWP client.

WhatsApp gets two new messaging-centric features – the ability to edit sent messages and react to messages sent by anyone. Responsiveness is already running on the web app, but it will also come to WhatsApp UWP, according to references found in the app.

The WhatsApp web app can react to messages with heart emojis and more. Along with other improvements, the same React functionality will be used for UWP clients.

While Meta allows messages to be deleted from the recipient’s side on WhatsApp, it can now edit text, which is especially useful when users regret hitting the send/enter button on the desktop.

To edit a message, users can right-click on the message and click the Edit button, and unlike Twitter, WhatsApp doesn’t keep a history of edits. However, the feature is under development and it is unknown when it will roll out and whether WhatsApp will also get edit history.

In addition to these interesting features, Meta is also working on another new tool to set a cover photo for a user’s account. This new addition is clearly aimed at business customers and is currently only being developed for messaging apps on desktop platforms.

Business users can configure their business profile with a custom cover photo (aka header image). This is a business-focused feature and users will not be able to set a cover photo for standard WhatsApp accounts.
