The new iOS 16 lock screen features will not come to iPadOS 16

In the iOS 16 system, Apple provides a wealth of custom lock screen options, including changing fonts, colors, widgets, and more. However, none of these customizations will appear in iPadOS 16. While for the most part, iOS and iPadOS share many of the same features, this year the split between the two platforms seems to be starting to become more pronounced.

On iPad OS 16, at least in the initial first beta, users can’t customize the lock screen with custom widgets, colors, and themes. Instead, Apple just changed the default font for the clock.

Although iPadOS 16 lacks lock screen customization, it’s still an important release. Most notably, Apple brought window support to the M1-based iPad through a new feature called “Stage Manager.” iPadOS 16 also brings desktop-level app features to the iPad, such as a new right-click menu, undo and redo in more apps, and more.
