Google Pixel 6 Pro fails the battery test completely

The smartphones of the Pixel 6 series have Google’s first processor installed – Tensor. Perfect coordination between software and hardware can be expected. However, this did not ensure that the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro shine with particularly long battery life. On the contrary, the devices are average at best. In my opinion, it was more positive than the devices delivering their usual battery life in the same form every day.

Battery Ranking: Long scroll to find the Google Pixel 6 Pro

Now the Google Pixel 6 Pro has also passed the DXOMARK battery test. Which ends in a real disaster for the Google smartphone. 74th place in the global ranking not only sounds bad, but it’s also really not good. Of course, there are also many mid-range devices with extra-large batteries that are designed for longer runtimes. But there are a few other flagship devices that fare significantly better.

DXOMARK lists 7 negative points and only one positive.

  • Only 41h24 autonomy with moderate use
  • Weak autonomy when playing games, calling and streaming music
  • Poor performance on the go
  • A small gain in autonomy after 5 minutes of charging
  • Poor charging efficiency
  • Very long wireless charging time: 3h16 to fully charge the battery
  • Very high discharge, especially when streaming music

Also without a chance against other premium smartphones

If you look at the ranking filtered by premium devices, the Pixel 6 Pro can still only reach place 36. This puts it well behind the Xiaomi 11 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Oppo Find X5 Pro, OnePlus 9 Pro and some other well-known premium smartphones from other OEMs.

Nevertheless, I have to say that the battery life of the Pixel 6 smartphones is okay. I don’t think the devices perform as badly as this test suggests. In addition, the battery life is also a very individual story and different for each user.
