Microsoft responds to Windows 11 upgrade to unsupported Windows 10 devices: it is a bug, the requirements have not changed

With the release of Windows 11 22H2 imminent, Microsoft continues to stick to the hardware requirements it announced last year and still does not intend to give the green light to devices using older processors or without TPM 2.0.

Yesterday, some Windows Insider users received a surprise when Microsoft (accidentally) pushed the Windows 11 22H2 update to everyone in the release preview channel, even if the user’s device hardware did not meet the requirements to install Windows 11.

As shown in the screenshot below, a “version 22H2” update notification appeared on unsupported Windows 10 and Windows 11 machines that were registered in the release preview channel.

Did Microsoft lower the hardware requirements to upgrade to Windows 11? Actually not. Currently, the update has removed unsupported hardware from the server-side, and the update has not been downloaded automatically.

Some users posted on social media asking if Microsoft had lowered the hardware configuration requirements for Windows 11. Microsoft officially responded that the upgrade requirements have not changed. This is a bug, and the reason for this is being investigated.
