Samsung’s new patent leaked, one step closer to its first scroll-screen device

At present, the combined sales of Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3 have exceeded 7 million. In other words, Samsung folding screen mobile phones account for 60% of the global market share.

With the gradual opening of new markets, Samsung seems to be preparing to develop a product line in another form factor – a roll-to-roll phone. Samsung, which had already laid the groundwork for such models last year, has been granted three new patents to further accelerate the development of new products.

The first design shows a product with a screen that appears to extend vertically, and the patent brief says this design is more cost-effective to manufacture. The second patent shows a more common horizontal expansion design, which is the design of the concept devices shown by manufacturers such as OPPO.

The third patent uses a display that extends horizontally, but this design focuses on making sure the phone’s screen matches the phone’s camera, and how the two work together. In addition, Samsung has adopted a simplified approach to this design to reduce power loss and free up internal space.

This is just a possible design, and it doesn’t mean that the scroll-screen phone Samsung eventually pushes is like this. As for the final live image, please wait patiently for the official follow-up announcement.
