Samsung Pay: Problems related to non-Samsung smartphones are piling up

We received the information by email from a reader that there seem to be problems with Samsung smartwatches and non-Samsung smartphones if you want to use Samsung Pay via NFC.

Reader Tommy writes that the problem has apparently existed for a good two weeks and that he can no longer use his first-generation Galaxy Watch to pay with Samsung Pay. He connected the watch to his Oppo X3 and probably accidentally reset the watch. Since then there have been problems logging into the Samsung account, the ID is not accepted.

With that, of course, Samsung Pay is history. There is also a thread in the Samsung forums in which all sorts of users report the same problem and also express their dissatisfaction there. What is interesting here is the fact that Samsung is still writing about problems with Samsung Pay on its support page “

To use Samsung Pay on your smartwatch with a non-Samsung phone, you must update to Android 6.0 or higher.” From the official site, the support of non-Samsung devices does not seem to have been discontinued at the moment, or this is not yet being communicated.

In any case, keep an eye on it, or feel free to report it if you are also affected. It’s quite possible that it’s just a bug in the system. In any case, we will report as soon as Samsung should comment on this.
