Telegram completes 700 million users, new features and premium info

Telegram gets a premium subscription. We already reported on what users get more in their hands with Premium. There are e.g. B. 4 GB uploads, faster downloads, different channel and chat folder limits, speech-to-text, unique stickers, animations, better chat management, animated profile pictures, the premium badge and no ads – in some countries sponsored messages are allowed in major public channels. But it is also important to know: Telegram Premium is currently not available for users from Germany.

Nevertheless, there are general innovations at Telegram. On the one hand, there are now 700 million users, according to the operators. Public groups can now enable requests to join, allowing group admins to screen new members before allowing them to post in chat.

Users who open the group can tap Join Request and add their request to a list only owners and admins can access. Public group owners can enable join requests by doing this: Group profile > Edit > Group type > Who can post messages > select “Members Only”, then Allow new members.

Celebrities and organizations can verify their group, channel or bot. You’ll then receive a verification badge to show users that the messages are from a verified source. In addition to profiles, search results, and the chat list, these badges are now also displayed at the top of the chat. This makes it even easier to identify verified sources of information.

macOS users can now create a custom profile picture, set any sticker or animated emoji as the focus, and add a colorful gradient background. iOS users with new iPhones and iPads get smooth 120 FPS animations thanks to improved support for ProMotion displays.

Android users can enjoy better audio and video quality for voice and video messages. Also, there is now the ability to use alternate app icons, clear all recently used stickers at once, and translate user bios or chat descriptions.

According to the developer, the current update brings improved chat previews in Android, as iOS users are already familiar with. Now you can scroll through them to see the whole chat without marking it as read. Added new buttons that allow users to mark the chat as read, mute, pin, or just delete it.

Auto -save media to gallery option is back: media saving can now be enabled and disabled separately for chats with users, groups, or channels.
