Google with new Apple attack from which Ryan Reynolds learned so much

A few days ago, a new song by Drake started, which was also a bit about Apple iMessage. Briefly explained: If messages in iMessage are green instead of blue, you have been blocked by another iMessage user or the contact does not have an iMessage and can only receive the message as an SMS. The latter is always the case, for example, when iMessage users send a message to Android users.

Google knows that this can be easily fixed. Apple would simply have to support RCS on iPhones. The very extensive SMS successor would be perfect for comprehensive messaging by phone number without users having to resort to WhatsApp and Co. Apple has been fighting RCS very hard for some time.

On the occasion of the new Drake song, Google launched another attack on Apple. This time via Twitter. “Only Apple can fix this problem,” it says.

Google vs. Apple and what Ryan Reynolds and Drake have to do with it

Although Drake’s song was barely about RCS support for iMessage, the marketing team used the song as a source of the latest outcry. A really smart idea.

The Android team thinks Drake’s new song “Texts Go Green” is a real banger. It refers to the phenomenon when an iPhone user gets blocked. Or tries to text someone who doesn’t have an iPhone.

Either way, it’s pretty rough. If only some super talented engineering team at Apple would fix this. Because this is a problem only Apple can fix. They just have to adopt RCS, actually. It would make texting more secure too. Just sayin’. Great track tho.

As the embedded tweet shows, Ryan Reynolds is another celebrity involved alongside Drake. That at least creates more attention for the topic, which can only be in the interests of Google.

This is Google Messages

Initially, Google Messages was designed for SMS/MMS. Since 2019, however, Google has wanted to compete against WhatsApp and Co. with the integration of RCS. RCS is the “chat function” and the modern successor to SMS. You can use it to send photos, send unlimited texts, use video calls and a lot more. RCS is included in modern mobile phone tariffs and is now included ex-works with Android.
