Samsung thinks about improving the front camera on Galaxy S23

The front camera of the non-Ultra Samsung Galaxy models has been 10MP since 2019, but now it appears that Samsung is planning a significant selfie camera upgrade for the upcoming Galaxy S23 range.

According to reports from GalaxyClub, Samsung is considering the possibility of equipping the Galaxy S23 and S23+ smartphones with a front camera with a 12 MP sensor.

Samsung Galaxy S23 may offer an improved front camera

The source specifies that it is unclear whether the Samsung Galaxy S23’s front-facing camera will be located under the display like the Galaxy Z Fold 3, nor will it offer optical image stabilization (OIS).

It is also not known at the source whether the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra will also receive a front camera with a higher resolution. Galaxy S20, S21 and Galaxy S22 Ultra are equipped with a 40MP sensor and it is unclear to what extent an update would be useful.

Given that the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series is still at least seven and eight months away, the company’s plans may change several times, so this information is to be taken with a grain of salt. However, it makes sense that Samsung is at least considering introducing such an improvement.
