MacBook repair parts shortage, Apple allows users to take their devices home while they wait

According to MacRumors reports, affected by ongoing supply chain issues, Apple is now allowing users to take repaired devices home to prevent parts shortages that cause repairs to take longer than expected. When the repair parts arrive, the customer can send the device back to complete the repair.

If users take their devices home, they will be notified when the parts they need for repairs arrive. From this date, the user will have 5 days to return the device to the service center.

This new policy is currently being implemented in some regions, and it is up to the service center to decide whether users waiting for repaired parts are eligible to take their devices home. Logically, this only applies to users whose devices are healthy and available.

Apple has been dealing with supply chain issues affecting iPhones and Macs over the past few months, MacRumors said. Among the repair parts for the MacBook Pro, the 16-inch MacBook Pro display currently takes two months to arrive in some regions, sources said.

For other parts, Top Case parts for some MacBook Pro and MacBook Air models, including batteries, keyboards, etc., may take a few weeks.
