CDPR: CB 2077 was tricked by the outsourcing company, the parties involved responded

We previously reported that according to the YouTube channel Upper Echelon Gamers, Cyberpunk 2077 developer CDPR may have had no idea about the state of the game at launch because they were duped by outsourced QA (Quality Assurance) firm Quantic Lab.

Quantic Labs then issued an official response to the matter, saying some of the content in the video was “incorrect.” Quantic Labs said that the outsourced QA company responsible for “Cyberpunk 2077” is not the only one, and the person who posted the video seems to have a misunderstanding of game development.

In a statement signed by Quantic Labs CEO Stefan Seicarescu, the QA studio (which also worked on The Witcher 3) explained that the whistleblower’s claims represent a misunderstanding of the game’s development and do not reflect a big-budget game quality assurance process.

Quantic Labs said: “The video posted on social media misrepresents Quantic Lab’s history from the start. And they seem to lack an understanding of how games should be tested before release.”

“All of our client agreements are confidential, but typically global publishers work with multiple QA outsourcing companies, rather than relying on just one company, in most cases in addition to in-house QA resources at the developer level. The project direction has been agreed with the client and adjusted accordingly according to the client’s real-time requirements.”
