Meta Quest 2 has total sales of 14.8 million units: an extraordinary result for the stand-alone device, which makes it the most successful VR headset ever.
Sure, the hints were clear when you consider that about half of the VR players on Steam owned a Meta Quest 2 last February, but the device’s growth has been steady since launch.
The headset has in fact contributed substantially to the spread of virtual reality: in 2021 the market for VR devices grew by 97% and even by 242% during the first quarter of 2022.
The reasons for the success of Meta Quest 2 are quite clear: it is simple to use, requires no additional hardware and already has a very solid software library, to which titles such as GTA: San Andreas VR, Ghostbusters VR and The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution.
