Windows 11 22H2 release preview 22621.169 (KB5014958) update

Microsoft announced today that it will release the Windows 11 Build 22621.169 (KB5014958) version update to testers in the release preview channel of Windows 11 version 22H2.

Microsoft hasn’t mentioned any new features in this release, though it appears to include File Explorer tabs as well as new navigation updates. Also, it fixes multiple bugs.

This update includes the following improvements:

  • Added Server Message Block (SMB) Redirector (RDR) specific public file system control code FSCTL_LMR_QUERY_INFO.
  • Added support for Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 to the Windows client and server Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) implementation.
  • Updated Remove-Item cmdlet to interact correctly with Microsoft OneDrive folders
  • The InternetExplorerModeEnableSavePageAs group policy is enabled.
  • Fixed an issue that caused the Take Picture button to disappear when the user opened the camera using the generic file dialog.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause driver installation errors, specifically: when the extended driver was installed but the base driver was not installed, the system would not receive the same extended driver from Windows Update
  • Fixed an issue that caused Active Directory Create From Media (IFM) installs to fail with the error “2101 JET_errCallbackFailed”.
  • Fixed an issue with Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (LDS) resetting the password for the user proxy object. Password reset fails with errors such as “00000005: SvcErr: DSID-03380C23, issue 5003 (WILL_NOT_PERFORM), data 0”.
  • Fixed an issue with Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS) resetting the password for the user proxy object. When you try to reset someone else’s password and authenticate using a simple bind, the password reset fails. The error is something like “00000005: SvcErr: DSID-03380C23, Issue 5003 (WILL_NOT_PERFORM), Data 0”.
  • Fixed an issue preventing Microsoft Edge from being in the Windows Sandbox.
