The Galaxy Note series has been withdrawn from the stage, but the impact will continue

In 2021, it was originally the 10th birthday of the Galaxy Note series, but unfortunately, that day never came. Since the introduction of the Galaxy Note series of phablets in 2011, the S Pen has become an iconic element of the series. But sadly, the arrival of S Pen support with the Galaxy S22 Ultra means the days of this beloved productivity-focused phone seem to have finally come to an end.

The Galaxy Note line is more of Samsung’s rebellious response to the iPhone and the late Steve Jobs himself. This model has everything the iPhone doesn’t, and everything Steve Jobs spurned: a huge screen (at least by the standards of the time) and, most importantly, another smart stylus the phone tries to get rid of.

History will prove Samsung right, with many of today’s models in the so-called phablet size of yesteryear. While the Galaxy Note’s S-Pen is still a bit unique, the craving for a stylus for the phone has never gone away, even among some of Apple’s own fans.

Fortunately, those features that make up the DNA that define the Galaxy Note aren’t going away…even if you don’t see a new Galaxy Note phone for years to come.

Well-known whistleblower @ibing universe broke the news that TM Roh, head of Samsung’s mobile division, said that the Galaxy Note will appear every year in the form of the Galaxy S Ultra. The immediate implication here is that there will be no more Galaxy Note models in the future. It also hints that the Galaxy S Ultra model will retain the same form factor and features as the Galaxy Note, just like the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which is released in 2022.

In terms of functionality, this basically means that the Galaxy S Ultra models will continue to carry the S-Pen inside their bodies. This design change starts with this year’s Galaxy S22 Ultra, which has no room for a stylus inside compared to the previous Galaxy S21 Ultra generation.

The same oversized phone is distinguished from the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ by its square design, similar to the latest Galaxy Note models. Whether this design will continue moving forward remains unknown, but the exact look of the Galaxy Note has never been its defining feature.
