Metal Gear Rising, the speedrun of the Blade Wolf DLC was a fake: the author confesses

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance recently starred in a spectacular speedrun for the Blade Wolf DLC, which however turned out to be a fake: the author of the performance confessed to having used a previous montage and not having played live.

The PlatinumGames action, which saw the number of players grow by 1000% for a strange reason, regained popularity and for this reason, it was one of the titles of the Summer Games Done Quick 2022 event.

On that occasion, in fact, the speedrunner Mekarazium broadcast a performance with Metal Gear Rising in the video which, however, he later admitted to being phony: it was the editing of previous sessions concluded perfectly.

Mekarazium apologized for deceiving users and the commission of the Summer Games Done Quick 2022, although the confession came only after some people and industry newspapers had raised doubts about its performance.

Of course, the question is controversial: the event collects donations to turn to charity and it is on the basis of the collected figures that the speedruns are “unlocked”, in the form of a show dedicated to fans. The author of the bogus video did not, therefore, pocket any money directly.

In any case, the organizers of the Summer Games Done Quick 2022 have expressed themselves very harshly about what happened, given that this kind of episode end up causing enormous damage to the image of the entire category.
