36% of Pixel owners want to switch to another brand

In 2021, Google will truly return to the field of Android flagships with the Pixel 6 series. But sadly, the popularity of Google Pixel devices has dropped significantly over the past few years. A study by TradingPlatforms found that in the US, 36% of Pixel users want to switch to another brand.

Despite some positive reviews, Google’s latest Pixel smartphone appears to be struggling to catch up to rivals in terms of user experience, reports suggest. Also, Google phones were very popular, at least for the first few generations of the phone user base, but now things have changed and Google phones are no longer popular.

Quite a few customers have recently reported some glitches and other issues with their new Pixel phone devices. These hardware issues affected many Pixel users and resulted in a shortened device lifespan.

The Google Pixel 6 series has a fingerprint scanner built into the display. Unfortunately, many consumers have complained that their Pixel 6’s fingerprint sensor is unresponsive or broken.

Charger issues plague some Pixel users. These devices take longer to charge than other companies’ devices. Cables and chargers from some third-party manufacturers are not yet compatible with Google Pixel phones.

To make matters worse, Google’s Pixel phones no longer come with a charger, which raises further questions. Chargers with USB-A to USB-C cables may also not work.

Google’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro displays have a number of issues. These include screen flickering, refresh rate related, green tint, and occasional screen shattering issues without any external force. Additionally, the auto-brightness feature on many Pixel phones occasionally malfunctioned.

Pixel software issues

Most smartphones have issues with Android Auto, and Pixel devices are no exception. For example, users may experience issues with Android Auto if they set up their Pixel 6 using their old phone’s “Settings”.

Pixel 6 users may experience occasional connectivity issues when using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Wi-Fi disconnects are a common problem for Pixel 6 users, and the inability to connect to multiple devices is the most common issue across all Pixel phones.

Some customers have reported that gesture navigation on Pixel phones frequently freezes or becomes unresponsive. Additionally, some users have complained that the phone’s proximity sensor doesn’t work as planned, forcing them to accidentally mute or hold calls. Another common problem is that the audio breaks or skips every few seconds.

Unfortunately, many issues plagued previous Pixel phones and the Pixel 6 with no known workarounds. These may be important factors for people to switch to other brands of phones.
