YouTube opens picture-in-picture feature to U.S. Apple users

YouTube announces Picture-in-Picture for all U.S. Apple users. iPad and iPhone users can continue to play video content in the form of a small floating window when they close the YouTube application while watching a video, which is convenient for users to do other things on the device.

The picture-in-picture feature, previously available only to YouTube Premium subscribers, is now available to all U.S. YouTube users. For other countries, a premium subscription is required to access the picture-in-picture feature.

It is worth noting that although the picture-in-picture function has been opened to non-subscribers in the United States, it is limited to non-music videos. If you want to make picture-in-picture for music videos, you still need a Premium subscription.

Google confirmed last year that picture-in-picture support would be rolling out to premium and non-paying YouTube users, and it’s been in beta, but it will take some time for the feature to be implemented for everyone.

The official support document states: “We recognize that user demand for this feature is high, but the rollout has not been rapid.” YouTube said it would like to “thank everyone who shared feedback during the experiment and waited patiently for this moment.”
