Tesla’s FSD package is getting more expensive

Tesla sells electric cars with an autopilot, which is actually well equipped in the base. Better than most other manufacturers, where you always have to book an expensive package. But Tesla also offers two other options.

You can book the extended autopilot for 3,800 euros or the full package for 7,500 euros. The best version is called FSD, which stands for “Full Self Driving” and according to Tesla, you will be able to drive autonomously at some point.

But that has been promised for years and so far the maximum is level 3 with a touch of level 4. There are doubts that level 5 (a car can drive independently without a driver at the steering wheel) can be achieved with the built-in technology.

Elon Musk: FSD is ‘ridiculously cheap’

Nevertheless, Tesla has repeatedly increased prices in recent years and as part of the business figures, Elon Musk has stated that the FSD package is “ridiculously cheap” and that he wants to raise the price further. In the US, the FSD package is currently $12,000, but there hasn’t been a new price for it.

If that is now too expensive for you, you can also book the package as a subscription. I think that the normal autopilot is enough, it can’t keep up with the competition in Germany anyway, because Tesla still doesn’t recognize any signs. Should autonomous driving really be offered at some point, we can talk about a fair price for it. But to date, Tesla has not yet delivered here.

PS: I know that Tesla is further along in the USA. But I’m talking about Europe here, so I think the current price is a bit excessive. Let’s see if that changes soon, but so far there are only unfulfilled wishes from Elon Musk.
