Tip to downgrade Pixel device beta to stable Android

Several Smartphones companies provide software updates from time to time. Google Pixel users are not getting major updates before everyone, they can also test out the upcoming version of android through a public beta program.

When Google released Android 13 through the beta channel for eligible Pixel devices it received good feedback, but it was still just a beta quality software not the same as a daily driver like Android 12.

To get back Android stable version by downgrading Google Pixel Smartphone

In the beta, the version developer acknowledged the problem/drawbacks of the previous Android version and solve them with a new one. It’s an easy way to restore the Android stable version from the downgrade. In this process, your whole data may be wiped out you should take a backup before starting it.

Sometimes we installed by chance a developer preview/beta build and if you have been wondering how to get back to a stable Android version below steps show how it’s done.

Quit the beta program:

1. Go to the Android Beta Program page.

2. Tap View your eligible devices to see the beta-enrolled Pixel devices.

3. Choose the Opt-out option for the listed devices you need to remove from the     beta program.

4. Focus device will receive a new update within 24 hours. You can also navigate to      Settings > System > System update > Check for update on your phone to see if    the update is available.

5. When you receive OTA, install it.

6. That’s it.

Manual downgrade: 

1. For this you should have a browser on your PC/Mac/Chromebook that is compliant with the WebUSB UPI. Chromium-based browsers, such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, are recommended.

2. Make Developer options and USB debugging on the target Android device, if not done already.

3. Link your device directly to you one of the USB ports of your PC/Mac/Chromebook.

  • Avoid USB hubs, adapters, or extenders to steer clear of potential errors.

4. Open flash.android.com in a browser on your computer.

5. Tap on the Get Started button. Next, allow the web-based flash tool to communicate with the target device through ADB by accepting the popup that says Grant Android Flash Tool access to its ADB keys for it to communicate to connected devices.

6. Tap Add new device.

7. Choose the target Pixel device from the list and click Connect.

8. Go to your Pixel’s screen, select Always allow from this computer and click OK to accept the USB debugging connection.

9. Choose the connected device in your browser.

10. Choose the build that says “Back to Public” from the list. You can then select options, such as wiping the device, relocking the bootloader, or force flashing all partitions.

11. Tap on Install build to start the process.

12. Then the flashing process completes, disconnect the device from the USB cable.

The above steps help you to downgrade the beta version to the Android stable version.
