Pay at the pump via CarPlay and Android Auto is coming

PACE Telematics, a mobile payment-at-the-pump company, has announced that its mobile payment functionality will be expanded to include CarPlay (on iOS 16) and Android Auto.

The free PACE Drive tank app should be available in the infotainment system of almost all vehicle manufacturers in autumn, without additional app installation. After PACE Drive presented payment by smartwatch at the end of 2021, according to PACE Telematics, the app then enables the following functions via CarPlay and Android Auto:

  • Compare petrol station prices in the area: The app can compare petrol prices, just like on a smartphone, and thus help to find the cheapest price in the car.
  • Pay directly at the petrol pump: If PACE Drive is started via the display in the car, the petrol pump and payment method can be selected as usual. You can then conveniently pay in the car.

PACE Drive can currently be used for cashless payment at over 3,000 petrol stations in 8 European countries. I myself switched to PACE Drive after Bertha left and I am satisfied with the app.
