New details on the Google Pixel 7

The Google Pixel 7 is slowly on its way, it’s not even three months away. Meanwhile, new information about the integrated hardware keeps appearing.

Google changes the camera hardware

In theory, we already know exactly what hardware to expect in the devices. In the past few days, publicly accessible source codes have once again confirmed that the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro use the same camera sensor for the front camera. Which is a jump up from the Pixel 6, especially for the Pixel 7. More power, more features.

For the Pixel 7 Pro, it was clarified that a different camera sensor is used for the zoom camera. Technically, however, it shouldn’t be much better or different. Instead, it is primarily the manufacturer or supplier that changes. Samsung instead of Sony. That could still bring about an improvement because then more camera sensors come from one brand and that might be an advantage in image processing.

Sensor inside, which was last in the Google Pixel 2

Now, when you look at the source codes, you noticed something again. The integration of a Hall sensor or Hall sensor is probably planned for Pixel 7. This is a sensor that is primarily used in smartphones and similar devices to detect magnetic cases. Google last installed such a sensor in the Pixel 2 and hasn’t since because they didn’t even offer such cases.

Well, the Pixel 6a is also said to have such a sensor integrated, which is not listed anywhere. Only the existing drivers in the source code of the software reveal that. But you can also move the smartphone with a small magnet and see whether the smartphone switches off the display at any point when it is “touched”, like with a corresponding case.

So far, Google has not offered such cases with a flap. But maybe you will soon be expanding here? As always, remains to be seen.
