Matter: Google Home App, Google Nest speakers, smart displays big update

Google is sending out good news for the Google Home app users. Now the Google Home App will support a website which means you will get live feeds for Nest Cameras and you can also unlock the script editor in the future too.

This news will surely bring back the feature we have already seen in the past version. On it, Nest cameras offered a live feed at home.nest.com, which some newer models have lacked that functionality for the past two years.

It will bring a clean design, only offering live feeds for new Nest products such as the Nest Camera (battery), Nest Doorbell (battery), and the Nest Camera with Floodlight.

On the web you will get “Script Editor” for automation to the Google Home web app. Google says this mouse + keyboard experience will “unlock the full potential of home automation.”

According to the latest information, this feature won’t arrive until sometime in 2023. The Script Editor also coming in 2023.

As we saw above, Google announced revamped Google Home app details and now the company is also confirming this week that it will update its Nest speakers, smart displays, and routers to help control Matter devices.

Your Android phone will automatically detect a Matter device and help you securely set it up quickly. Matter setup and app linking will be available by default on billions of Android devices with Google’s launch of Matter support later this year. We are even working directly with top device makers to ensure we have support across as many Matter-supported devices as possible.
