Gmail redesign settings on iOS, now more convenient

Early this month, Google release New Unread Messages Lock Screen widgets for enlisting new messages or knowing how many messages are left to read in the inbox. This change is available in version 6.0.220918 of Gmail. Now, Google modernizes Gmail settings on iOS and will redesign Android soon.

If talk previous settings of the Gmail app on iOS the navigation drawer at the bottom is not near the profile photo. Now, you will see in the menu the first general settings and then display all signed-in account lists.  The next change in the App-level settings for example theme and mail swipe actions are considered “General,” while everything else requires opening account settings. That’s further split into sections like Account, Inbox, Notifications, General, Meet, Nudges, Inbox Tips, and Data usage.

This release brings a redesigned settings experience, making it easier to manage your preferences.

In this new Gmail, the redesign removes the General and accounts distinction. The preference list starts by immediately breaking out options for Chat and Meet with the ability to quickly disable those tabs. Meanwhile, colorful icons are used throughout to make everything stand out more.

Now, iOS users are enabled high-level controls for “Notifications,” while “Inbox” and “Compose and Reply” are very straightforward. Lastly, you have a reasonable “General” section.

After seeing the new redesign of iOS Android users also want all these new changes in their phones. It’s more user-friendly and similar to Chrome for iOS preferences. Google would do well to update all of its major apps in the same style.

Lastly, the Gmail settings redesign is widely rolled out on iOS with recent versions of Gmail, but release notes for version 6.0.221002.
