Google Tensor and MediaTek could be a partner?

In starting of October Google launched its Pixel 7 series equipped with a Tensor G2 chip. This chip has speech recognition, background noise cancellation during phone calls, speech-to-text or language translation, and image and video processing. For high-end Android phones this week MediaTek released its Dimensity 9200 SoC.

At the MediaTek Executive Summit this week, the company present its latest Dimensity 9200, a flagship-tier SoC for Android devices that is set to compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 from Qualcomm. As per the Performance of the Tensor G2 Chip Google will consider it for its flagship.

MediaTek on its own is starting to take over a sliver of the high-end Android space from Qualcomm. MediaTek’s biggest growth in the global high-end Android space is in devices under $600, but it’s slowly having an impact on more expensive devices as well. However, Google Tensor is making a similar impact on the high-end space.

When MediaTek comes to flagship phones

The MediaTek Dimensity 9000 and now the 9200 hold their own against Qualcomm’s best, but no one is really using them in Western markets, as the numbers clearly outline. MediaTek is still working to establish itself as an actual option for high-end smartphone makers.

Facts about MediaTek

Google enhances the Exynos layout in form of a Tensor chip. Tensor has a custom design and custom elements that do truly make it unique, but it all ties back to Samsung’s foundation in the end. It does stand to reason, though, that Google could take much of this work to another partner, and MediaTek seems to be a perfect match. Especially with the Density 9200, MediaTek puts up a killer showing and one that’s genuinely competitive with Qualcomm.

Finally, MediaTek revealed that it may provide the SoC for the PlayStation VR2. This chip may enhance the features of the phone.
