Google Contacts brings “Highlights” tab for Android

Google is introducing new icons for the SMS/RCS app, Phone, and Contacts, in addition to a few new features for Messages. In addition to the new icon, Google Contacts has undergone several updates over the past year, the most recent of which is a brand-new Highlights tab.

Google Contacts’ Highlights Tab

Features show up among Contacts and Fix and make due in the Material You base bar. You will find a grid of “Favorites” beneath the search field that can accommodate four icons in a row. It has more icons than the Favorites tab in the Phone app, and you can add new ones quickly from the top-right corner.

The Favorites list at the top of the main tab and the grid coexist. As a result, there are now two perspectives.

Recent, a two-tab list that begins with View recently, comes next. The view date for each contact is displayed, and the overflow menu lets you clear that history.

The most useful component of this new user interface is Added recently, which completes the list. Google Contacts is now a three-tab app with a navigation drawer in the main list view as a result of this recent update.

The app is becoming somewhat busier. The addition of “Fix & manage” to highlight the app’s various tools were useful, but it’s unclear whether it required a tab-by-tab approach.

The Recents section can move into the Manage tab. The new contacts grid should only be added to the top of the main list and replace the Favorites list. Having said that, in theory, this brand-new Highlights tab might be the primary method by which individuals utilize Google Contacts.

Lastly, they could search instead of scrolling, as the grid is more visually appealing and user-friendly than the list.
