Latest PlayStation 5 software update rolled out

Sony recently released the January 2023 update to its PS5. The update is instantly available all you need to check the console and you’ll find it’s ready to download and install (you’ll also need to sign in after agreeing to the updated terms of service).

According to the latest report, Sony PlayStation 5 grabbed a new software update today with the latest version number 7.0.0. The latest update added Discord voice chat support in the US, Canada, Japan, the UK, Germany and France.

Further features of the beta system software 7.0.0 at a glance:

  • Variable refresh rate support for 1440p. A smoother display can now be experienced when using a VRR-compatible HDMI 2.1 display with a resolution of 1440p.
  • Improvement to the game library. Games can be sorted and filtered when adding them to the game list. In addition, library filters are available to find PS VR games – including PS VR2 games when PS VR2 launches later this month.
  • Preferred presets for multiplayer sessions
