Samsung recently introduced the latest software update for the Galaxy S23 series and this update added new features for the camera. Also, Galaxy S23’s Image Clipper comes to the Galaxy S22.
The previously mentioned features have been updated with a software update, and the company plan to add support for Image Clipper, Astro Hyperlapse, and Expert RAW. Features marked as under review are under development review and support has not been finalized.
Samsung will notify you of the features under review and the scheduled support schedule as soon as they are finalized. You can check the complete details which are mentioned below.
Easily select Expert RAW from the More menu You
can easily select Expert RAW, which was provided as a separate app, from the More menu and take high-quality photos. If Expert RAW is not installed, the Expert RAW icon will be displayed if you can access the Galaxy Store through a network connection.

Provides professional-level shooting experience
Expert RAW Offers multiple exposures and astrophotography among special shooting techniques. You can take original and creative staged photos by taking multiple shots through multiple exposures and providing a single composite photo. In addition, astrophotography can be taken through multi-frame synthesis and AI segmentation tailored to the movement of celestial bodies. For astrophotography, the supported lenses were selected in consideration of sensor characteristics and image quality.

Astro Hyperlapse is a night 300x speed function that allows you to photograph the stars in the night sky, and star trails can be photographed by selecting Star Trails.
Supported models were selected in consideration of AP performance and system structure for real-time image fusion processing, and sensor characteristics for long-time shooting.

Easier Selfie Color Adjustment
You can easily adjust the color of your selfie by pressing the effect button at the top of the screen. We improved usability while maintaining the existing image quality and supporting color/tone.

QR code scan optimization
QR code scan speed has been improved by optimizing the QR code recognition engine.

Improved lens-switching effect
The S23 has further improved the lens-switching effect by controlling the zoom dynamically.

The photo remaster function uses AI quality estimation technology to detect and improve various quality problems in photos. GIF enhancement, shadow/light reflection erasing, and wide-angle distortion correction have been added.

Improved the first screen of the gallery story and added a view mode to view multiple stories.

Auto Framing centered on the user-selected area
Auto Framing is a technology that recognizes people within the camera’s field of view and applies digital zoom and panning to place the recognized people in the center of the screen.
Starting with the S22 series, the Tracking Shot function that performs auto framing around one person selected by the user is additionally supported, and the S23 series also supports auto framing for areas other than the person selected by the user.
The auto framing function based on the area selected by the user has selected models that can be supported by considering the tracking shot function and recognition performance.
