Nest Cam offline issue resolved following server update

In the past two days, numerous Google Nest owners have reported their cameras displaying an “offline” status, despite continuous content recording. The root cause of this issue has been identified as a server update implemented by Google.

Several users, particularly those with newer generations of Nest Cam or Nest Doorbell, observed that their devices were labeled as “offline” within the Google Home app. While live view functionality was disabled, the camera history continued to operate, indicating that the devices were, in fact, not offline.

According to a statement from a Google spokesperson provided to 9to5Google, the problem originated from a recent server update that affected devices located in Europe and its surrounding regions.

The server update caused temporary connectivity disruptions for some devices in the EU, resulting in the loss of connectivity for a brief period. The majority of affected users have since been restored, and Google is actively working to completely resolve the issue.

While the problem has been resolved for most users, the fix is still being gradually implemented by Google.

It is worth noting that reports of this issue first surfaced in early June, and it remains uncertain whether the devices affected during that period were connected to the same server update. Nevertheless, it is reassuring to witness the ongoing efforts to address and rectify the problem.
