Samsung discontinues software support for multiple Galaxy devices

Samsung, a leading manufacturer of smartphones and tablets, has recently announced the discontinuation of software support for a range of its Galaxy devices. While Samsung has been known for its regular updates and support for its devices, certain limitations apply. Specifically, high-end devices released prior to 2020 were previously assured a minimum of three Android updates, in addition to security updates. Regrettably, this year marks the conclusion of software support for these devices, as it has been approximately four years since their initial release.

In 2019, Samsung introduced the acclaimed Galaxy S10 series, which included the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10+. These devices were fortunate enough to receive the Android 12 update, but no further major updates will be provided. Security patches were extended for an additional year; however, these devices have now reached their end-of-life stage. Notably, even the 5G variant of the Galaxy S10 is no longer eligible for new security updates.

In addition to the Galaxy S10 series, several devices from the Galaxy A series, which debuted in 2019, have also reached the end of their software support. The following devices will no longer receive updates:

  • Galaxy A40
  • Galaxy A10
  • Galaxy A30
  • Galaxy A50

Furthermore, Samsung has ceased providing updates for the following models:

  • Galaxy Tab A10.1 (2019)
  • Galaxy Tab S5e
  • Galaxy Tab S6
  • Galaxy X Cover 4s

This discontinuation of software support for these devices aligns with Samsung’s strategic focus on newer models and the ongoing development of its product portfolio. Users of the affected devices are advised to explore available alternatives to ensure their devices remain up to date with the latest software advancements and security features.
