Google Pixel Fold receives promising DXOMARK results

The Google Pixel Fold recently underwent rigorous evaluation by the DXOMARK camera test, assessing its photographic, video, and zoom capabilities. The outcome reflects a commendable performance for a premium device, with the Google Pixel Fold emerging as the leading contender among foldable phones in the camera test category. Key camera specifications include:

  • Primary: Equipped with a 48 MP sensor, 0.8μm pixels, f/1.7 aperture, Dual Pixel PDAF, and OIS.
  • Ultra-wide angle: Features a 10.8 MP sensor, 1.25μm pixels, f/2.2 aperture lens, AF, and OIS.
  • Telephoto: Incorporates a 10.8 MP sensor, 1.22μm pixels, f/3.05 aperture lens, Dual Pixel AF, and OIS.

The Google Pixel Fold’s standout attribute lies within its highly accurate autofocus system, consistently delivering precise focus even in challenging lighting conditions. Noteworthy qualities observed during photo and video capture include an expansive dynamic range and well-balanced white levels. The device excels at rendering exceptional contrasts, particularly in HDR (high dynamic range) scenarios, such as backlight situations.

Moreover, the camera exhibits excellent exposure control across most scenarios, consistently maintaining the desired brightness levels. The Google Pixel Fold impressively minimizes image noise, particularly in well-lit environments and indoor settings.

However, it is worth noting that image noise tends to increase during low-light conditions, night photography, and high-contrast scenes. While the portrait mode showcases the commendable performance, it would benefit from refinements to address slight blurring gradients and noticeable artifacts in depth estimation. Presently, the Google Pixel Fold occupies the 28th position in the overall rankings, with a total of 133 points.
