Android 14 to include native satellite communication functionality and extends compatibility to all manufacturers

Google’s upcoming Android 14 operating system has been announced to natively incorporate satellite communication capabilities, as confirmed by a recent tweet from the reputable Pixel #TeamPixel source.

Notably, this novel feature will not be restricted solely to Pixel devices, opening avenues for other smartphones equipped with the necessary hardware to avail themselves of satellite communication functionalities. Initially reserved for Google’s Pixel series and Samsung’s Galaxy series, Android 14’s support for this technology is set to expand beyond these exclusive ranges.

In February of this year, Samsung’s Mobile Experience Department head, Lu Taiwen (TM Roh), expressed the company’s intentions, stating, “As soon as the infrastructural groundwork and technological readiness align, we will actively consider integrating this feature into Samsung Galaxy devices within our mobile department.”
