Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series receives August 2023 security patch

Samsung has commenced the deployment of the August 2023 security update targeting the Galaxy Note 20 series. This recent security enhancement was introduced last week, and it has swiftly reached a spectrum of devices including the Galaxy S20 FE, Galaxy S20 FE 5G, and Galaxy S23, along with select models within the Galaxy Z lineup.

The latest software update, designated for both the Galaxy Note 20 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, is now accessible in specific regions such as China and several Southeast European countries. Within the Southeast European region, the firmware is distinguished by version N98xFXXS8HWH3, encompassing rectifications for more than 70 security vulnerabilities that were identified within the Galaxy smartphone and tablet range. Notably, this update is focused solely on security enhancements, excluding the incorporation of novel features or performance optimizations. Conversely, within the Chinese market, the update accompanies firmware version N98x0ZSS6HWG8.

If you are a Galaxy Note 20 series user situated in Southeast Europe, the new software update can be promptly verified by navigating to Settings, subsequently selecting Software Update, and initiating the Download and Install command. An alternative approach involves procuring the appropriate firmware file from our comprehensive firmware database and conducting a manual installation via Samsung’s Odin software, utilizing a Windows-operating PC.

The Galaxy Note 20 series was unveiled by Samsung during the latter half of 2020, and shipped with Android 10 pre-installed. Subsequent to its launch, the devices received the Android 11 update in late 2020, followed by the Android 12 update in late 2021, and subsequently the Android 13 update in late 2022. It is notable, however, that these devices might not be eligible for the forthcoming Android 14 update anticipated later this year.
