Samsung launches One UI 6.0/Android 14 beta for Galaxy S23 series

Samsung has officially introduced the beta program for One UI 6.0, its Android 14 update, following a brief delay earlier this week. The rollout commences initially in the United States, South Korea, and Germany, concentrating on the Galaxy S23 series.

This latest update aligns Samsung’s interface with Android 14, embodying a comprehensive set of enhancements to amplify user interaction. An emphasis has been placed on optimizing notifications and refining the Quick Settings panel.

An integral feature of the One UI 6.0 beta is the revamped “Quick Panel.” Noteworthy components include prominent toggles for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a customizable grid of icons beneath, and a dedicated segment for screen brightness adjustments. In addition, device management functions, powered by applications such as SmartThings and Google Home, along with screen mirroring controls, are seamlessly integrated.

Among the notable enhancements brought about by One UI 6.0 are:

  • Adoption of a new default font.
  • Integration of fresh emojis into the Samsung Keyboard.
  • Enhanced accessibility to Quick Settings through a single swipe from the top-right corner of the screen.
  • Introduction of the ability to set distinct lock screen configurations based on Modes and Routines.
  • Introduction of a personalized camera widget featuring presets for various camera modes and storage preferences.

The rollout of the One UI 6.0 beta commences today in the United States, South Korea, and Germany, with an anticipated expansion to other regions in the upcoming weeks. Currently, access is restricted to the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra models, and enrollment can be completed through the Samsung Members app.
