watchOS 8.1.1 update fix the charging problem of Apple Watch 7

Apple released watchOS 8.1.1 today. This is a minor updated version that focuses on solving the problems that occur when Apple Watch Series 7 is charging. The new version of watchOS 8.1.1 is Build 19R580, which replaces the previous Build 19R570. watchOS 8.1 was originally released on October 25th with only bug fixes and performance improvements.

For users with automatic updates enabled, when the Apple Watch is placed on the charger, charged to at least 50% of the power, and within the Wi-Fi range of the host iPhone, the update will be automatically downloaded and installed. In addition, users can manually update by navigating to the Apple Watch app on the iPhone.

  • Open the Watch app
  • Click General
  • Click Software Update
  • If there is an update available, a download and installation prompt will appear
  • Put the Apple Watch on the charger
  • Once the battery level of the Apple Watch exceeds 50%, the update will begin.
  • Please do not remove the Apple Watch from the charger until the update is complete and the time is displayed.
