Tesla expands pilot project, Norwegian and French charging stations open to non-Tesla vehicles

In November last year, 10 Supercharger stations in the Netherlands began opening to non-Tesla-branded vehicles. Today, Tesla announced the expansion of the pilot program, adding two markets, Norway and France, on the latest support page.

In addition to EV owners living in the three countries, Tesla said drivers living in Belgium and Germany can also charge their vehicles at supported Supercharger stations when visiting Norway, France and the Netherlands.

There’s no change for Tesla EV owners; the company noted that they can continue to use Superchargers as usual. Additionally, Tesla said it will closely monitor congestion at each site and listen to customers’ experiences. As with the original rollout, non-Tesla EV owners who want to use the Supercharger will need to download the Tesla app.

Tesla Said:

We’ve always wanted to open up the Supercharger network to non-Tesla branded electric vehicles and by doing so inspire more people to embrace and use electric vehicles. This move confirms our mission to “accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.”

It will also expand faster as more customers use the Supercharging network. Our goal is to continue to massively expand the charging network while rapidly learning and iterating on the technology, eventually enabling all Superchargers around the world to charge Tesla and non-Tesla owners.
