OnePlus patents a new full-screen phone with under display camera

OnePlus has a patent for a true full-screen phone with an under-screen camera. According to reports from the foreign media letsgodigital, OnePlus applied to WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office) for a patent on “display devices” in mid-2020. This 23-page document was released on February 4, 2021, to show us OnePlus’s solution to proactive problems.

As per the patent, the front camera is located below it. In this way, the user can see the complete full screen. According to OnePlus, the solution is cheaper than punching holes on the screen, and it can also reduce the line of sight interference when users use it. More importantly, it has the advantages of low production cost, high output, and high product reliability.

Judging from the photos currently exposed by OnePlus 9, it seems that it is still a perforated screen. We can only hope that this technology will be matured soon. It’s on the product.
