Huawei officially released HongmengOS 2.0 developer preview beta for tablet users

HarmonyOS/HongmengOS is a family of operating systems developed by Huawei. It is an Operating System designed for smart devices such as smart TVs and it has been used as a mobile operating system. It is expected to become an open-source, free, and microkernel-based distributed operating system.

Unveiled on 9 August 2019, the platform is designed primarily for the Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Version 1.0 of HarmonyOS was first adopted in September 2019 in its smart screen products launched only in China.

Version 2.0 of HarmonyOS was then announced in September 2020 with support for smartphones, head units, watches and smart TVs. Its first developer beta was released to selected developers on 16 December 2020 via OTA updates, which also allows developers to roll back their phones to EMUI 11.

The Chinese tech giant in last December held HarmonyOS/HongmengOS beta event for mobile developers and after that the company has released a public beta for some smartphones.

Now, Huawei has started rolling out the HongmengOS 2.0 developer preview beta 2 for tablet users and for your kind information the HongmengOS will be fully upgraded in next month i.e. April 2021. Below you can check the complete changelog with a screenshot.

Hongmeng OS 2.0 Developer Preview Beta 2 Changelog:

  • Added 622 HarmonyOS APIs.
  • Added Huawei sharing face-to-face sharing of HarmonyOS FA privacy.
  • Added Changlian Sharing HarmonyOS FA.
  • Added support for WebView capabilities, support for basic functions such as page loading, page navigation, and page information acquisition.

Note: Before upgrading to the latest version make sure your smartphone is connected with a proper internet connection, we recommend you to download it over WIFI so that you will not face any error.
